VATS system
I used to play Fallout 1 when it came out and for reliving some old memories I bought it on steam :) Now I just have one problem, I don't get the VATS system to work. :(
Anyone else having this problem or can help me out how to get this working? I do know it was in Fallout 1 but my memory seems to be failing me on how to turn it on :P

I played the time the game came out and it did had "Vats", just wasn't called "Vats" back then, but you had the ability to target bodyparts just as the vats system.

Looked like this

ProTip: Right-click the weapon icon until you see that circle on the bottom right corner and click on the desired target... Simple

If you have fast shot you can't take aimed shots

You can also use the N key to change the mode of the equipped item, which I find useful if playing on a laptop because it's quicker than moving the cursor down to the item list. For other weapons it can change from single shot to burst mode (and reload, if your weapon isn't full of ammunition), or swing/thrust for melee weapons as well as changing from "Aim for this critter in general" to called shots.

It actually was called Vats...
It wasn't. There were vats in the original game (and the track that plays in Mariposa is called Vats of Goo), and Bethesda named the called-shot system V.A.T.S. as a reference to the original game. The vats were filled with FEV, for the purpose of dipping non-mutated humans into.

I remember in the original manual it says V.A.T.S for the targeting system. I am sure it is Fallout 1 the big box ver. for PC.
