Try shooting him in the legs so that if you're lucky, he'll fall over. If that doesn't do anything, aim for his eyes for a better chance of a crit. If you have a companion with you then arm him with some good weapons, and the deathclaw can focus his attention on him instead of you.
It has low range but a ton of damage.
Submachine gun could be useful if it get to close, you can try to use burst at point blank.
Shotgun could work if you shoot in the eyes.
A sniper rifle can be pretty good to shoot in the eyes at long range
If you have loot to sell, try to barter that.
Dont hesitate to place a few flares before fighting it, its dark in the cave.
What weapons skills is your character more skilled with and did you take any traits when you made it ?
For exemple, if you took fast shot it becomes a whole other story since it doesn't let you do aimed shots.
As long you do enough damage to it, it shouldn't attack companions.
Of course.
What skills are you developing?
The alien blaster is one of the best weapons in the game... As long as you develop energy weapons. Combat shotgun from the small guns category is also very good, but not that good.
Generally, the idea is that you have a relatively well-developed skill related to the weapon of your choice to have a good chance of hitting, and aim for weak points such as the head, eyes, legs. If you get seriously hurt, the first thing you do in your turn is open your inventories and heal yourself as much as possible.
The number of companions you can have with you depends on your charisma.
Fallout 1 in vanilla let you have all the companions no matter your charisma.
Since getting the Alien Blaster is very random, get hold of an Assault Rifle and blast the Deathclaw with Burst after Burst. This should do the trick. The Assault Rifle is very expensive in the Hub, but you can find a free one in Smitty's bookshelf in Adytum. (You can get to Adytum Boneyard with one of the Caravans.)
The Deathclaw won't do much damage unless it gets a Critical Hit. If it Crits, you will need to heal with Stimpacks.
