I know it. But I don't want to lose karma for leaving poor ghouls without water. I guess I'll lose it even if the ghouls are dead.

You can still try to repair their pump with some "Junk", if you find it and manage to get past anyone guarding the Watershed. When you get there, use the item on that pump. Also, did you *have* to kill every ghoul you saw other than the ones who caught you ? The ones who mutter and slowly move towards you are the technical zombies, they are your only concern if you're not careful.

Nevermind. I checked game wiki, it said that 40 days after the beginning of the game all ghouls would be dead. I found chip, I joined the Brotherhood and now I'm trying to finish the game.

its because the mutants invaded just slip past harry by saying ,but i am a ghoul, and you can get the chip that way but the ghouls in the vault are still alive but don't become hostile until you take the chip go down to the manhole at the water pump area by the super mutants after you convince harry you are a ghoul hope this helps
