I'm getting my ass kicked

I dont really understand why I keep dying, I'm at the point where I need to scout the northwest military base (which I can not find) and every time on my way super mutants intercept me and 1 shot my whole group. I've gone around and done pretty much every quest I'm level 10. This is what a level 10 should be doing right?

what weapons are you using and the milltary base is directly left from vault 13

I'm using the sniper rifle you get from the brotherhood and a combat shotgun. Regardless of where th ebase is the orcs use the chaingun and 1 shot me. I'm level 10, am I missing something?

You should have Power armor and the Turbo Plasma rifle ( or laser rifle, or other heavy weapon ) by now.
Unless you have the above...your going to die. A lot.
PA you get from BOS ( easy quest )
Turbo Plasma even easier.
And once you hit the SMs...your companions are going to die regardless. Without power armor they are bullet sponges.
I've only been able to keep Dogmeat alive the whole way...but that took some reloading.

I have the Power armor and the mother deathclaw still kills me in one round, my energy weapons arent high enough to be effective yet. How the ♥♥♥♥ does the mother deathclaw kill me in one round with hardened power armor.

I had the hardend power armour and the turbo plasma rifle and you still get smashed right until the end.
You will be doing great in a fight then boom you get crit for 150.
Best thing to do is save in stages during fights and hope to get crits of them.

When I first visted I had the hardened power armor and the alien lazer pistol...So I think you might want to improve your power armor if you have it and find the UFO random encounter.
