Fallout for Mac?
I find it a bit strange that after Bethesda took over publishing pre-Fallout 3 games, the Mac versions seemed to have faded (GoG doesn't even have Fallout anymore). It's not like some other third-party developer ported Fallout and Fallout 2 to the Mac, so why not release it on the Mac so us Steam players using it could enjoy the original Fallout?

My guess is the Mac release of Fallout was for PowerPC OS X, which was replaced with Intel OS X. Emulating such late operating systems seems pretty difficult.

Probably. It sucks that Bethesda seems to not have any interest on the Mac market. Though it's fully understandable. :/

I've been told by some people that AAA companies don't really care about the non-Windows operating systems because it'd take too much time making their games compatible for 'em.

But the thing is that there was already versions for the Mac. I can understand if there was never any ports of it, but it's not the case right now.

Fallout Classics will run on Mac! All you need is WineSkin Winery to generate a wineskin.app file. I am using Wineskin Wrapper version 2.6.2, and Wineskin Engine version WS9Wine1.9.5. Generate the wineskin, name it "Fallout Classics", and choose "ok" to install gecko and mono and whatever else is needed.

A little more info: Download "Steam for Windows" file SteamSetup.exe. Then find the wineskin app file, right-click on it and choose "show package contents". Run the Wineskin.app file. Choose "install software" and select the SteamSetup.exe file you downloaded. Steam will install, and you will see a finished screen with a checkbox to "run steam", keep it checked. Click okay and steam will run. Log in to Steam, and you will see your library. You can now install and run Fallout from steam and it works very nicely. I recommend running the app in Windowed mode, which you can set from within the fallout settings. It gives you a window that you can resize on your desktop by dragging the corner of the window, which is nice. Install and test Fallout to see that it works.

Now exit steam and quit out of everything. Go back into Wineskin by running Wineskin.app. First, under Configuration, choose the browse button next to Windows EXE, and select "/Program Files/Steam/Steam.exe. Next, go to Set Screen Options, choose Tools, then Config Utility (winecfg). A window pops up, choose the Graphics tab, and check the box for "Automatically capture the mouse in full screen modes".

Exit out of Wineskin. Go to your "Fallout Classics.app" file, and just double-left-click on it as you would any other app. Steam will launch into your library, and from there you can launch and play Fallout Classics!

In all, the process took me about 10 minutes + downloading time.
I am using a mid-2012 Macbook Pro 2.6Ghz i7, Yosemite, , 8GB ram, graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GT 650M 1024MB.

For Fallout to play natively on Mac, you have to wait till Falltergeist[github.com] has been completed. It might take this entire year at worst.
