Does Fallout 1 run on Windows 10?

Hi community!

After Fallout 4 has been released, I wanted to play the first part of the saga. But I don't know if it runs at Windows 10! And I also don't want to waste 10$ for a useless game. Please answer me, if the Steam-Version works fine at your Windows 10 PC!

Try running the game in compatablitiy for windows 95. Worked for me. Or use windowed mode.

Well I stumbled onto a way that helped me... No promises for anyone else but Ill put what was my solution.

1. Go to Library --> Games.
2. Hover your mouse over Fallout and right click. Next select properties.
3. Click the LOCAL FILES tab at the top. Then click BROWSE LOCAL FILES.
4. Double click on f1_res_Config (This is the tenth one down for me)
5. Next I changed the screen resolution to 1920x1080 (You should pick your resolution.)
6. I also changed the refresh rate to 144hz (Again pick what your tv/monitor uses)
7. Near the bottom of the box is a Enable button for ther Hi-Res patch that i clicked.
8. Lastly I clicked the Windowed box at the top right.

I had the same problem. I went to the steamlibrary/steamapps/fallout folder and executed the f1_res_Config.exe and set the graphic mode to 'Basic' and the resolution to what I wanted. clicked 'Done', ran the game and it worked.

From my experience, the game would be stuck in black screen if graphics mode is set to "DirectX 9" while running in fullscreen.

What you could do is find "f1_res_Config.exe" in your Fallout directory folder and change the graphics mode from "DirectX 9" to "Direct Draw 7" or tick "Windowed" which will make the game windowed but you can maximize the window if you wish. I only tested this with the Fixt Mod being installed but it should work with the vanilla game + Hi-Res Patch.

I still having a problem, the lag. I mean, I am playing with a supercomputer and it runs at 3fps
