Crash-bug at Military Base?

The game always crashes when I go through a red force field. I load the game at alert status, the yellow force fields come on after 3-4 seconds, and the red ones are there. Then I go down to level 2, and after some steps after I passed the red force field, it crashes with this message to Windows:

Application error
The instruction at 004944c0 referenced memory at 00000d1f
The memory could not read
Click OK to terminate

Or something like that. Pretty annoying since it's the first major bug I've encountered so far.

What to do?

To fix it go to the root directory of the game and "rename" the file ddraw.dll into something else, then launch the game and reload your save, it should work after that

Well, I just gave my companions stim packs so they weren't fried by the fields, and that worked.
