QUESTION: Fallout 1 Radiation and Special Stat decrease

I was playing fallout 1 and just did everything I could in The Glow. I had 2 RAD-X on before I entered. Once I left The Glow and entered a new area, it told me that my radiation increased and my SPECIAL stats of strength and intelligence both decreased by 2. I immediately took two RADAWAYs but then got the CHEM affect (which I believe means addiction). I waited a few hours and my SPECIAL stats did not return to their original level. Is there any way to get my stats back to what they were before the radiation?
