Then you modded it and complained that the Brotherhood blocked you when going out an elevator instead of realizing why the Brotherhood doesn't follow you.
The devs didn't have to have the paladins go anywhere near an elevator, even just having them help you on the first floor would've been more useful than what we got. It's simply poor quest design.
A lot of stuff in this game can be justified because of prior information while here you just dont know.
Just knowing that the supermutants know you are here when you failed would have solved the issue.
If they could be with you on the first floor it would still cause an issue when you want to go back to the first floor.
They arn't even mandatory to do this anyway.
Yeah, that's what happens.
Attack one of them, skip a turn, on his or her turn, move them out of the way! They both will probably disappear. It takes way too long to leave the base, so it's better to kill one of them or hope they die beforehand.
