Time Limit Inquiry
I'm new to Fallout 1, and just recently I've learned that there is some hidden time limit of 500 days for me to beat the game, which was then apparently patched with a new 13 year limit. While I have made alot of progress, I like to take my time enjoying what the game has to offer. I've heard that this was removed from the steam version, but I wasn't sure.

The time limit isn't hidden. Open your Pip Boy. It tells you how long until Vault 13 runs out of water right there. You can extend the time limit by buying water from water merchants in Hub City peridodically, or remove the time limit completely by finding the water chip.

Sorry, I'm refering to the time limit that counts down until Vault 13 is invaded by mutants; I've already delivered the water chip

That 500 day limit was there when the game launched but was patched out soon afterwards.

thank the lord the time limit was practically taken out. it's the only thing that got me playing again. i lost my entire game to the hidden timer, my save file was so far gone there was no way i could beat the game in time. im currently playing again, im in necropolis, and enjoying every minute of it

this works only in Fallout 2, and is a global time limit (game breaks after it, unless patched further)

Generally, quests giving off the illusion that there was some urgency at work when there really isn't, that's becoming meh. Most people detest timers / timed quests though. They're felling rushed. Hate to tell them, but if there ever is a quest that says BIG BAD is gonna happen SOON, then that's the entire point. :D
the FO1 hard-limit of 500 days before gameover (Vault13 gets busted by SuperMutants) was so bad it got patched out. (when i was a kid i ran into this, and had no idea WHY it happened)

FO2 has (TIL of some days ago for me!) a global limit of 13 years, with is the ultimate compromise between a "no time limit" and the game engine being limited.
