In any case, you should go to Necropolis and find out for yourself how things are going to play out. Depending on your play style you can be fine or in a whole world of trouble. I know that may not sound too helpful but that's how it goes.
I actually envy you, being able to play this for the first time. You're in for a treat.
Just make sure to save before leaving the Hub. ;)
Everything seemed deadlier and more threatening that it probably was.
Was afraid to cross the wasteland without a caravan, for example.
I'd suggest you get to level 6 or so (and get another companion)before starting major quests in the Hub, such as looking for the missing caravans, or killing gang boss Decker. You can already get plenty to do with Junktown or the Brotherhood of Steel.
You can also try crippling the limbs. If 1 arm is crippled they cant use the heavy weapons. And I am sure that 1 has a laser rifle while 1 has a flamer, others are unarmed.
thats the fun in old fallout games, no restrictions
They can miss pretty easily. Metal armor was more than enough for me ; I went to the Hub first so I got a Combat shotgun there, which was really helpful. I also had Ian and Tycho with me, and it sure did help too.
