how should I steal the Systolic motivator from Rhombus

I screwed up talking to Michael and am a terrible thief. Someone help please.

If you run to the side of the locker and have the sneak on, and wait he will go away after, a couple tries and then you can steal it then 1. dolt of fast, or 2. grab it and wait some more then when he is gone walk out.

Load an earlier save and use the right dialogue options with michael if you can't steal it.

If all else fails there is another way of getting a suit of power armor by saving the BOS member in the Oldtown section of the Hub (east exit of downtown) and asking for power armor as a reward.
He is in the house with the guys that automatically get hostile if you go near. You turn in this quest in to the guy in power armor in the training room with all the work out equipment

You can't just ask for power armor. You need to have earned influence in the brotherhood to even have it as a possible reward.

That would be positive karma. You could get that by doing most quests, so not really an issue, unless you went straight for the BOS in hopes of getting it. I usually wait till late game to do that quest since they are a pain to kill while keeping my companions alive.

It has nothing to do with karma, but a hidden reputation system with some factions, one of which is the brotherhood. If you don't have at least 16 points, the most hardcore reward item you can ask for is the rocket launcher, while with 16 and above, you can ask for power armor or a super sledge.

Then the vault must be wrong in its entry for this quest.
