So glad Delilah wasn't there/doesn't pan out
I've played this game twice now, the first time I played how I would if I was Henry. Kept Delilah at arm's length, never told her about Julia (except for telling her I'm married), but at the end I definitely wanted to meet up with her, obviously that doesn't happen.

The second time I wanted to see if there was an alternate ending/different dialogue if you were more open as Henry, so I told her everything and was always engaging and flirty. As everyone knows by now this doesn't change anything, the dialogue at the end is still mostly the same and you never see her.

Honestly I was a little sore about that, but after sleeping on it I think that was 100% the right move to make.

Since you don't see her you're free to have your own image of what you think she looks like. I'm an artist and I made an image of her and I portrayed her as African American, got some heat for that but oh well. Just like a book, you're free to interpret as you want to.

More importantly, at the end you're never given the option of definitively meeting up and/or starting a relationship with this person. Lots of games give you exactly what you want in the end, happy ending and your choices led up to exactly what you wanted them to. That's not real, and you were essentially having an emotional affair with this woman all summer, wouldn't be right for it to pan out perfectly.

Just my thoughts.

I sort of felt like you. I just finished the game minutes ago and yeah, I'm little pissed she sort of gives you the cold shoulder after her being the one to start the flirting and so forth. But, on the other hand, he is still married, and other than what they shared over the radio for a brief 3 months does not make a deep, loving relationship. She seemed to be more focused on the physical (Her drawing of him, wanting to know his looks, notice he never asks her what she looks like, commenting on how sexy her last boyfriend was), rather than any other traits she seemed to be too worried about the physical. She also never discussed (that we are aware of) things like children, religious, political or a slew of a other things that a person needs to know about before being in a relationshop.
Also, another flaw in her that I didn't like was her willingness to subvert the truth. She was okay with lieing about Henry seeing the two girls, and she lied about one or two other things i cant remember at the moment, but her honesty seemed to be adjustable to the situtation a little too much.
If he was no longer married, or is they had been able to actually meet, then the relationship could have taken a better turn.
Thank you for trying both tacks, because I was planning to do what you did.
I am married in real life, so I played it this first time as if I was Henry and still married to my wife and how I would react given the same situtations, so I wasn't always flirty with her or I didn't agree with everything she said.
She seemed to be in a phase of her life where she wasn't ready for a stable, long term relationship and I think in the long term that Henry would feel remorse at abandoning his sick wife for this other woman who didn't seem ready to make a life long commitment.

Anyway, I'm glad I played this game and I would love to see more games with this sort of adult content that doesn't end like every single romantic comedy movie that comes out. I'm glad I didn't know until the very end if a relationship was goingto blossom.

I think they left it open enough at the end that she could see him again (depending on what you say at the very end) but if I were a betting man I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks devs for this great experience.

Fairly early on in the game you can even have her tell you that she in general isn't one personally for committed relationships. For her Henry is suppose to just be this guy she has fun with while he's out there and I feel like from the beginning was always clear about that. She indicates that at the end of the summer he'll be going home to do his thing and yada yada yada. No in her mind she was suppose to stay at her station for how many ever more years she would be stationed there and you were suppose to just be this summer's guy.

Furthermore as you talk about your wife it would be clear to her that even if she was the sort of person to want to try a serious relationship with Henry that she would just be his rebound from his wife.

No it's clearly just a fling and really any attempt by Henry to make it more is like all those sitcoms where someone is like 'Hey if we do this it's just a one time thing and we won't get strange right' and then one of them promptly getting strange.

I just finished my first run. I told Delilah about Julia and her illness and stuff. At first I flirted with Delilah and had some interest in it (I think it was because of her sense of humor), but I changed my mind after remembering of Julia situation. She was still alive, just sick. But it was a difficult choice, because the game does not provide much information about the personality of Julia and puts you in a situation of stress and oppression in a forest, and the only company is a female voice on a radio. I had to put myself in Henry's mind, who lived a life with Julia and not think only in the few months I spent with the unknown Delilah. In the end, I thought it was best not to meet her and go see my wife.

PS: I'm sorry for my bad English :/

you REALLY ought to change the title of this thread.

Personally I don't care since I beat the game like 20 minutes ago but if I would've seen your thread I would've been quite irritated.

And yes, the logic is sound that one shouldn't visit forums if they don't want spoilers, but there are situations where perhaps folks come looking to see about bugs and fixes or perhaps help in a very specific area and etc.

Gotta be mindful of that.

Then it's a good thing this thread is already in the Spoiler Discussion section. If you only want to see threads about bugs and fixes or any help and not want any spoilers then i wouldn't know why you would be looking in a sub forum titled Spoiler Discussions..

I was glad Delilah wasn't there to meet up with at the end, and i was rather shocked at the amount of people complaining about that fact. I know some people these days dont take marriage as seriously as they should, and that this is just a game but. wow.

No, you REALLY need to change your title.

I searched while playing in the second act for "Firewatch I'm Married" to see if there were any consequences to saying that or to not mentioning it, and this is the first thread that shows up on my google search. Spoiled that major part of the game and I was pretty angry about it (not angry about you posting since you posted in the spoilers thread, just angry about the situation and the fact that it showed up in Google results). Still played through the game and loved the experience, but please change your title. Just make it something like "Thoughts on the ending" or something else vague, because the Google search lists your title as the result so it's pretty much impossible to miss.
