Unable to progress: Blocked Trail (Slight possible spoiler)

I jumped down a "long drop" to inspect the communication wire. When I found out it was cut, I looked for a way out of the area and only found a path which was blocked. It has "[left mouse button] clear trail" underneath the name "blocked trail" but it is greyed out.

However close I get, I cannot seem to find a way to activate. I will look around and post here if I find the answer, for those running into the same problem.
If you know what has to happen here, please do respond!

After some random walking, I did find the way out. For those who are stuck here:

Go up to the pole with the cut wire. Turn around and start walking down along the right side of the hill. There is a path going down with beer cans, and you can progress

Hey killbeam, just an fyi -- that is not a blocker! unless i am misunderstanding where you are. That's a shortcut you will be able to navigate later.

I actually just finished the game, but at no point did I go through there. Lucky, the path I described above is relatively easy.

Might I also say that I absolutely loved your game. It has been a long while since I have been this invested into a game. I finished it in 1 sitting; I basically had no choice.
It felt like a breath of fresh air to finally encounter proper adult dialog, which was both funny and serious when it needed to be.

I already ordered 2 posters from your store 2 days ago, and I am now even more excited to get them! Great job on this game! :)
