Master List of Firewatch PC Fixes
This thread is to correlate any major PC fixes into a single place. Mostly a preliminary list for now. Will be adding any community issues/fixes here as they come up.

Missing Executable Error

Firewatch requires a 64-bit OS. If you're on a 32-bit OS the game won't run.

There's no way to 'upgrade' to a 64-bit version of your OS. you'll need to format your system and reinstall the OS as 64-bit from scratch.

Game Crashes On Loading Save

Ensure you have a DX11 compliant video card. Which means it has to be at least an Nvidia GTX4XX or an AMD HD5000 card or higher

Update Your Video Card Drivers

This is the next most common cause for people's inability to run the game, particularly on PC.

It is also important that you update your drivers through software provided by your video card manufacturer or directly from their site.

Always make sure you reboot your machine after installing the drivers, just to be safe. Then try relaunching the game.

Laptop users should force their Nvidia/AMD cards

Use the Nvidia Control Panel or AMD CCC to force the game to use your built in GPU instead of the Intel one

This guide should help you depending on your video card:

http://www.howtogeek.com/175281/how-to-force-graphics-options-in-pc-games-with-nvidia-amd-or-intel-graphics/

No Sound In Main Menu - Manually Re-Run Vcredist

Go to your Steam installation folder at

Steam\steamapps\common\Firewatch\_commonredist\vcredist\2010

And manually run

vcredist_x64.exe
vcredist_x86.exe

REBOOT YOUR COMPUTER

Then re-launch the game

Main Menu Scrolling Wildly Or Uncontrollable Mouse

* Update your Xbox controller drivers
* Remove VJoy drivers as this causes problems

I Changed Some Video Settings Now the Game Crashes!

Go into your registry and delete everything from

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/CampoSanto

The Main Menu/Save Menu is Blank

You have to do the following to resolve this

* Run the game
* Go to the 'empty' save menu
* Alt-tab out
* In Explorer go to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\CampoSanto\Firewatch
* You'll need to 'show hidden folders and files' in Windows to see the Appdata folder
* Delete the Saves folder
* Go back to your game

You should then be able to see the save game menu again

Reverify Your Game Cache

Sometimes files will get corrupted causing a game to fail. Try to reverify your game cache which makes steam check all your files are up to date and valid

How to Report Crashes/Bugs

Remember the developers need as much information as possible. So please try to give as much information as possilbe so the developers can replicate your issue.

If you have a technical problem please post your system specs from

...this is actually really sad, i was hoping to play the game at home, but i cant ...well i play it somewhere else, its butifull, but really unfortunate that it wont run on my PC ...anyway GJ to the developer for making this game :)

I have 64bit Win10 and GeForce GTX 760 with directx 12 and latest updates etc.

I try to play the game and main menu didint have any sounds and new game give just a black window.

Only thing that did work was trying these tips: https://www.reddit.com/r/Firewatch/comments/8w6x9p/no_audio_on_title_screen_black_screen_on_new_game/

Now the first download - (Visual Studio 2008 x64 redistributable) did nothing.

In secend download - (Visual Studio 2010 x64 redistributable) Windows said it has newer version already installed.

But the third download - (Visual Studio 2013 redistributable) did the trick for me.

Now after this there is sound on main menu and new game works.

Hope this help someone out there.
