No, I wouldn't say that -- in a lot of first person adventure games you explore a story that happened in a space -- in Firewatch the story is currently happening to you.
You talk to another person and make choices that influence the relationship. You uncover stuff in the world. We wanted to make a really reactive adventure game that felt more like the adventure games we played growing up but didn't bore us with weird puzzles and static 3rd person screens. Hope that makes some sense!

There is a part 2 with even more that you can easily find as well, but that reveals more of the setup which if you are interested in playing the game, you might want to just find out for youself. :)
