Frame rate drops with very high end system
Im running this on a Titan X, 32.0 gb ram, Intel i7-4790k CPU @ 4.00ghz, and a MSI ATX ddr3 2600 lga 1150 z97 gaming 7 motherboard.

I should have no problem running this on ultra. However though it usually is at 60 fps, sometimes it drops horribly, down to 40's and below. Why the poor performance? Is a patch going to address this any time soon?

your not the only one whose noticed that. Running GTX 970 on my build. Not only were there some frame drops, but my GPU was running hot playing the game.

Well 52 C isn't very hot for that. But its hotter than what running more intense games on ultra have given me.

i7-5960x with SLI GTX 980's and 16GB Ram @ 120hz vsync =120 fps 95% of the time on Ultra. The rest of the time it jumped between 100-110 fps, never had any real issue with frame drops here.

I was on the 361.43 drivers, no problems. I was having just way too many issues with the Tomb Raider 361.75's so I had rolled back last week.

Titan X @ 1450 and 5820 @ 4.2 and I only had one time towards the end I saw the frames dip below 60.

No problems here had everything to the max on Ultra ran smooth 60fps on 1920 × 1440,
however i haven't tried it on 3840 × 2160 yet.

On my desktop the game runs fine. i7, 8gb and hd6870. on my laptop it lags at low options (i5, 12gb, gtx760m) but i want to play it on the laptop :)

Same here laptop lags unless on low...
The one time the game has run I had something similar and had to kill the game...it's not run correctly since.

Running i7-4790K @ stock, 16GB RAM (DDR3 1600Mhz) and an overclocked 770GTX. I could pull off a near-constant 60 FPS, except during the finale.

Bit disappointed that the smoke and dust was such a framerate killer, but the graphics card is due to be retired upon the release of the GeForce 1000 series.

Seems like the wide open areas kill the framerate... 980Ti here, i7 930@4GHz, 24GB RAM. Running at 1440p, and in a lot of wide open areas my GPU usage drops down to 50-70%, and my FPS drops from 100 down to 50-60. Unity is honestly the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game engine of all time in my opinion, I used to think it just didn't like SLI systems but since I upgraded from 680s Unity games still run like crap on cutting edge hardware... UE4 is a far superior engine in every way.

The game is still playable regardless, really enjoying it so far and I don't blame the devs for picking Unity due to it's ease of development and low cost compare to other engines....

You've seen the thing in the PC support sub forum about forcing it to use the Nvidia card?

I just got the game a few days ago and I am having really annoying fps drops....The game runs fine, but when I am running around I get these strange drops of like 3-4 fps (kind of similar to micro stuttering). Anyone else having this issue? Known problem or nah? I have an evga gtx 980 classy.

I dunno, I had mine maxxed out on an i5-6600K and a Radeon R9 280x, and I had not one hiccup with it. It's definitely not cutting edge at this point, I'm wondering if there is some driver incompatibility.

I have an AMD Radeon R9 200 in a customized Alienware x51 and it ran perfectly at a constant 60fps all the way up to the final day with the wind and smoke and suddenly my fps dropped down to almost nothing, even changing the graphics settings so that it's lower than low, but it's still very laggy. Any suggestions? I'd really like to finish the game.
