When I got out of the part of the cave for which you need a key, the wave detector went off. This was before I knew the entire 'conspiracy' was not any real threat to me or Deliliah. The objective said "explore the deeper side of the cave", so the wave detector was pointing to something else, somewhere north. In my paranoia, i was convinced it was a trap set up by the experimenters to lure me away from the cave. Now, I am really currious what it was pointing too...
I can't recall if this is the exact point where it happens, but there is a time when you have the wave detector where a beep leads you to the corpse of a dead elk (I'm assuming the one you see at the very start of the game) with a tracking collar around its neck. Not sure if there are any other instances of things you can find with the detector.
Maybe the dead elk is somehwhere else and if you get closer to ir the signal "changes" and it starts detecting it instead of your main objective?
Right, that was the Bloodborne rune.
I've been there but i don't remember any jumpscare?
Try opening the oven ;)
