Day 1 - where's the damn rope I picked up?!
Not a good start. Day 1.

Get to the 306 box.

Pick up the rope and copy the notes.

Get to the steep incline where I need the rope aaaaaannnnd.... nothing.... no rope.

I'm not even sure I can circumnavigate the area to get to the fireworks by any other route. I've been back to the supply box, checked in and around, but nothing.

Pretty much game over. Not impressed. Then again, I may have missed something (it wouldn't be the first time).

I've also tried re-starting a new game and get the same problem.

So, any suggestions would be appreciated.

There is no inventory as such. When you need something you have with you the prompt will let you know what to do. In the case of the rope, you need to get close to the tie off pylon on the side with the ring. The prompt should say Tie Rope to Ring and you just left click to do it.

Thanks Virtualbill, however, I have the prompt upon reaching the post but the "use rope" (or whatever it says) is "greyed-out" i.e. I obviously don't have the item in my inventory. Left-clicking has no effect. I'm pretty convinced it's a bug.

When you picked up the rope, did you hold down the "E" key to keep it?

You have to be right on the pylon, practically. I had a similar bug on another pylon, but not the one you are on. It only happened on one playthrough, though. It wasn't a consistent problem. Just to try something: Have you exhausted all conversations with Delilah? If you keep bugging her about the slide, she will ask if you got the rope. Henry answers Yes, and Delilah tells him to tie it off someplace and take it slow.

I will have to correct myself. The E key doesn't apply to the rope. It works like the flashlight you get later. Henry stows the rope away and a round symbol appears on the left of the screen showing a picture of the rope. If you get Delilah to ask about the rope, if Henry says yes, then you have the rope with you.

Nope. I've re-started the game 4 times now just prior to finding the box. I phone D when I've found the box. I phone her again about the rope before picking it up (he sort of examins the rope before supposingly taking it). I pick it up and update the map. The rope symbol appears for about 3 seconds and then disappears. I get to the incline and nothing. No rope and the action icon is greyed-out. There's no further opertunity to phone D.

Either I'm being dumb or the game is! As far as I'm concerned it's FUBAR and I'm going to see if I can get a refund, but thanks for your help :)

Very strange that this should happen. It is such a specific thing, and I'm not aware of anyone else who has experienced it. If you can get to a conversation where Henry says "It's steep. How am I supposed to get down this?" Then Delilah will ask if you got the rope. Everything depends on Henry's answer as far as whether he answers yes or no. If yes, you should have the rope. I got there once and he said no, so I went back to the box and got the rope again. That's about all I can think of.

I don't seem to have any communication options available to me. I get to the "stump" where you obviouslty are meant to tie-off the rope, but aside from zooming-in I have no option available. From what you say, it sounds like I should be able to open up some sort pf comms once I get to the stump, however, if I've somehow dropped/lost the rope I suppose that'll be disabled. Games, eh.. somehow they were so much better on my Amiga.

It only worked for me to Move 180 degrees on the other side of the rock. Then the grey Text becomes White.

Same here. I have one final shot in the dark thing to try: disable the Steam overlay and then try the game.

You have to attach the rope from the side of the rock facing the slope i.e. with your back to the slope. If you approach the rock from another angle the option will appear but will be greyed out.

Super weird. I played through no problem. I think GBee has the likely solution.

It was the same for me. I also thought, that I left the rope at the box, bot I just looked at the rock from the wrong side. Try it from different perspectives, and it should work.
