However I feel you and can understand. As being not a native English person, I may feel a little different about cursing in English, and quite frankly, I use that f word from time to time myself. For me it's just feels natural and sometimes, yeah, it may sound weird, but I feel satisfaction of expressing myself that way. You cannot hold everything inside, and as far as it's not a personal insult I think it's fine.
The game feels more believable because of that, and it is even more about real life than it appears at first. It was the first game that did for me that and for that I am grateful. And by the way, to actually trigger that exact dialog in the game you have to think, so you may well miss it and have an actual calm and intelligent conversation instead, that is true. But still, lots of swearing nevertheless. Just a warning
Thank you for this topic, take care.
Clearly I am not a troll account, nor am I trolling by creating this thread. You folks need to learn meaning of words before using them. Just because someone offers a valid comment of concern to the developer does not make them a troll as any thinking person would realize. I don't expect this to get fixed for this game, but I do hope that such unnecessary language will be left out of future titles. New DOOM has it too and the old DOOM was just fine without it. They didn't make it better, they made it worse.
Yes, people do use that language and I have sadly, sunk to such levels myself in the past. However that doesn't mean it needs to be included and as I stated in the OP, no one would care if it were not there. But there i no need to make a conscious choice to include such immature language in a game. Especially one that is not ESRB rated to at least warn people.
The game looks awesome... but again, the needless profanity has barred the mature from being able to play it. For example, in the trailer, the actor could have yelled "Stupid kids" with the exact same inflection and gotten the point across. But nope... the writer took the low road.
Oh well, as I predicted, the unthinking haters (who are too young for this game in most cases) are gonna spew their vile nonsense instead of having intelligent conversation.
Thanks to those who read this and didn't feel the need to respond in such a childish fashion.
Developers do read this forum and I believe the may take this message as an advice for their future project, who knows.
Also, if you don't buy it because of the trailer, that's better than if you bought it and then asked for a refund. So don't buy it and be glad they saved you the wasted time.
"Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." - CS Lewis
Your apparently thoughtless, indeed unthinking, conviction that your view is the only good view and that everyone else is wrong, silly, and immature looks like classic trolling. It's possible that it's actually sincerely held naivete coupled with a hefty lack of empathy, but in either case there’s really nothing of substance for anyone else to engage with.
When trolls try to convince themselves that they are not trolling... what's the term for this? The Dunning-Kruger effect... too dumb to realize how dumb they are... very dangerous to have folks amongst us like this in society. Add a little self-righteous indignation and entitlement and we get the OP in full glory. Toughen up buttercup, if you truely let language bar you it only is an indication of your inability to handle life on it's terms and you have a long road of fustration and dissapopintment ahead of you in life in general. To put it bluntly, harden up or stfu.
