Well...that was short...
I got this on a GoG sale. Literally four hours start to finish, and I was strolling around, reading all the notes, and really just taking my time. I thought the reviews were kidding at the length. They definitely weren't. Other than that, it was a good ride.

I thought the ending was good. Well, not cool and amazing like many games. But more like a movie that you watch with your nongamer-girlfriend. You know, one that you probably wouldn't watch on your own. But, after watching you say to yourself, "Well that was kinda cool. No Star Wars, Raiders, or Lord of the Rings, but...you know...kinda cool."

Not everything has to be Star Wars. Not everything has to be long.

Anakha, wow...you're so amazing, so insightful! I never thought of that. Wait, let me think of that. "Not everything has to be Star Wars..." whoa. Not...everything...has to be...Star Wars. I feel so liberated now, so free.

Wait, you also said...what was it...oh yeah..."Not everything has to be long." Yes, yes! That is the answer I've been looking for all my life! All my life I've been playing games that are longer than four hours. But now you've shown me that I can play $20 four hour long games! Hallelujah! Thank you Anakha, thank you! Thank you for liberating me with ideas that never occured to me! Thank you for being so original in thought and insightful!

"All read and Behold, for the universe has brought unto us Anakha..." :steamsalty: :steamfacepalm:

Short stories are short...wow, another astounding post! Thank you for contributing...Aergistal.
I guess everyone should know it's a short story because that is what they advertised...wait...I don't see any mention of "short-four-hour-game" in their advertising. Funny.

But like I said, my four hours with the game were, you know, kinda cool.

I totally get your point but the (main) reason why they priced Firewatch at $20 is the fact it was there first game and they didnt know if it was going to sell very well. Yes there are other indie games out right now which are cheaper, take Stardew Valley for example but one of the reasons the price was cheaper for that game was it had been in development (talked about) for years so LOTS of people already knew about it whereas with Firewatch not so many, also with stardew valley theres only one man whos gonna be getting the money (until he branches out) but with Firewatch they have multiple people to pay.

On another note I personally really enjoyed the game, its not a game anything like TLOTR or Star wars (not saying there games) but its like The Shawshank Redemption or something like that, something thats not often talked about, but when is its greatly appreciated. The only worthwhile complaints I see for this game is how long it lasts, but if people are gonna buy a game, research it first and if you dont want a game that lasts for 4-6 dont buy it simple.

I watched the youtuber stream from Femsteph, i was gonna buy it, but if the story is totally linear, then i don't see the point.

Personally I enjoyed the game it was great, it is one of those games where it feels different to play it rather than just watching it. BUTT there is pretty much no gameplay aspect to this game so I can understand why a lot of people wouldnt want to but this game for that exact reason, totally justified. Great game for anyone who does enjoy great story, and isnt looking for gameplay to satisfy them. It will most likely be on sale for quite a bit and if it appeals to anyone I would reccomend getting it. :P

I personally have grown out of linear games and i honestly prefer games with multiple endings and choices, hence why i love the 'choice of games' type of games, sure its just words, but atleast they actually give you choices and they do impact the story.

I get that, but personally I enjoy alll types of games as long as it is good.

The point is to follow an interactive story. If that does not appeal to you then its probably not your game
