solution to raccoon and ol'shoshone achievments

so i read up on a lot of peoples problems on these achievments, as i was struggling myself. i had completed the game, and wanted to 100% it, so i started a free roam. i did as most guides say, and only brought the axe with me. i still didnt get the achievments.

after trying 6 times for both, i restarted the game, and started yet another free roam (overwrite another free roam save). i grabbed only the axe, and went north. when i got to the little outhouse near both achievments, i picked up a page and kept it. then i did the rest the normal way.

i'm not 100% sure what did it for me, wheter it was a combo of things, or just the game restart, but i would highly recommend restarting the game if you're also struggling

which page did you pick up? I've tried ol shoshone 6 times with no luck.

I've just started my fourth play-through just to get the Shutter Bug achievement, since you can't get the camera in free roam mode. I still can't get the achievement to trigger, but I already have the raccoon and Ol'Shoshone achievements. I've looked everywhere online and can't find anything about how to fix it. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it! :(

For me the way to get "ol'shoshone" achievement was going on Free Roam mode to the related area but only with my axe. I did not take the portable cassette player. After I got near the dead elk and passed through the bushes I found the mixtape and kept it. (Pressing and mantaining "E" on my keyboard).

I just got both achievements in Free Roam mode and can confirm jgrandiofra's words.
You have to take just axe and will get both achievements.
