stuck on day 2
i walked to the cut wire then continued west jumping down a long drop and towards the south there is a tree stomp with a carabiner but i have no rope to attach.. i can't go back because of the long drop and up north the supply box is empty and i can't cross the ravine.. am i missing something or do i HAVE to start over?
if so is this the only part of the game where you can brick your save or is this a common occurence (in which case this game is probably not for me)?

you will find a lot of ropes on the tree near the long drop. all i can remember is that u have to take the bag attached to the tree which was just near the one drop which was having a lot of wires to use.

It's been a while since I played the game (been thinking of pulling it out again, recently) but as I do recall, there are spots that can be super-subtle and hard to find. Not because they're puzzles or anything, they just blend in that well.

There should be a LOOOONG way 'round to get back to where you need to be, this game won't trap you forever with no hope. Be patient and keep trying, is the best I can suggest.

If you keep following the route where you have to find the broken cable post then you should find an abandoned backpack with ropes IIRC.

The backpack with ropes is stuck in a tree close by the carabiner, so don't look for it on the ground. Look up and you see an outcrop of rocks with ropes or something flapping in the wind above you. The tree is right below.
