Firstly chowderhead: White people ARE allowed to use that word. (In fact, that's where the origin of this problem comes from). Just because you can't say the word "Fire" in a crowded theatre does not mean you cannot say the word fire.
Doesn't mean that we have to find the use of that word GOOD. it isn't. But it is protected by the law. And I will fight heartily to protect the law.
And I will also freely point out the double standards. Especially when based on race (oh the irony!).
And when you point to the people actually doing that, you're welcome to point them out.
Most of us aren't here for that. Most of us don't like such a vile term for the same reason I don't like the term "Cracker" being used for a living person not made of yeast.
But the bigger issue is not complaining about racist language. It's using racist language to try and abuse the DMCA for a purpose it was never meant to accomplish, and to betray a streaming agreement.
That's even worse than racist speech. Complaining about that doesn't make us look like idiot racists except to the blind and biased. It makes us concerned citizens.
You too, chowderhead.
And while you're at it, learn what "Legal" means.
A certain thing that transcends what is political and regulates what can be done.
And why breaking what constitutes as an implied agreement is in fact illegal.
lemme guess, you think being kicked out of a bar for being racist is a violation of free speech
Sorry kid for hurting your feelings to spend this time defending how Not Racist you are
I love how ironic this is
The main problem with Campo Santo is not that they used their game development to make political statement basing on it(which is a dirty act on it's own).
They abused DMCA for this. And gamers hate when someone hurt gaming with legal matters.
This DMCA is really problematic, because for now Let's Plays are in grey are, they are not regulated by law. And industry want to stay in this state as long as it can. Because regulation mean legal cases flying all over. While if Campo Santo and Felix go to cout with this they would make legal precedent.
People have enough problems with DMCA act already.
Actions alone are more than enough to prove how not racist I am. If that's not enough for you, then it is pointless to give your definition of "racism" any credence whatsoever.
Which is why I won't focus on it.
I'm not defending how not racist I am, because I don't need to in a free society.
What I am defending is the right of people- Even if they are racist scum like the people I've tracked- to not be shanked on a legal agreement because some dev wants to punish them.
Get the difference yet?
Gamers also thought death and rape threats were "defending ethics in game journalism" so why should we trust them
I don't think anyone should take legal advice from someone who thinks calling a white person cracker is a reference to bread.
Pews casually said a racial slur then tried to argue context. That's racism.
Nope.
Because any bar owner worth his salt has something like "The owner may deny service to anyone for any reason."
Technically this is not the complete truth (a bar owner can and will be sued if they deny service on the basis of race and it can be proven). But in most conditions it is legally binding.
If someone says a racist term, the bar owner may choose to deny them the service of Standing In The Bar.
That's the key though. That's the informal agreement that governs who goes in the bar.
In this case, the equivalent agreemnt was- and I'm paraphasing- "Stream and monetize away! No bounds!"
Only for Campo santo to realize this meant that even THE BAD PEOPLE (TM) could. And so they got their little knickers in a wirl and decided to try breaking their own company's damn agreement.
He got a lot of real world beating for this, threats to cut things he make living from.
Yet it's him evil guy here.
