Can anyone actually play this game using a controller? Do you have to use keyboard/mouse?

I've followed the "Controller Problems" thread where hundreds of us can't do a thing no matter what. No matter the controller or settings our characters just look at the floor and spin in circles. I've had to refund the game TWICE - I bought it at release and had to refund it because of this then I bought it when it went on a super-cheap sale (on another computer) and bang, same thing. My character just looks at the floor in the first elevator and spins in circles. There is nothing I can do and from the 20+ pages of reports in the Controller Problems thread there is NOTHING we can do about it. NOTHING.

Are there people that can actual play and what is your setup like? Is there something special about your setup? Is it super advanced or super simple? Are you way above or just at the system requirements? I'm on a i7 4770k 3.5Ghz, 32GB Ram, GTX 1080 - is that too much somehow?

I've really wanted to play this game since the first trailer I've seen but given I've bought it twice and tried to install on 3 different PCs ALL with the exact same problem. I get in the first elevator, I look at the ground and start spinning. Everything is unplugged, even the keyboard and mouse. Tried on my laptop with NO controller, just keyboard and mouse (built in so I can't disable) and I just look at the ground AND SPIN.

Or is that part of the game? Is it some kind of test that a fireman has to go through to make sure you're not going to puke as a fireman? If so any hints on how to beat that mission? I've wanted to play this in VR but thank god it's not, if I had to do the "Elevator Spinner" level in VR I'd be refunding more than the game cost, I'd be refunding my lunch all over the floor!!

Using an XBOX 360 controller as well. I have made no special tweaks or settings changes either.

I just finished the game on PC using steam controller. Had to go in settings and choose steam controller during first boot.

I'm using the Logitech, which is an XBOX 360 clone. I had to choose it manually from the setting menu, but after that it worked perfectly.
