Click on Manage Ransomware Protection
Click "Allow an app through Controlled folder access"
Answer Yes to the security prompt.
Click "+ Add an allowed app"
Choose "Recently blocked apps"
You should see Dead Island listed. Add it.
Coincidentally enough, the same thing happened to me an hour or two before you posted. I just bought the game and ran into the same issue. It happens on many games for me, because I have the Windows setting turned on that prevents access to MyDocuments (and other folders) until I give an app permission.
