is this version bad???

I own the original, but haven't played since 2011, and only for about 12 hours back then. I just picked the definitive up on a steam sale cheap... But then I noticed online a lot of bad talk about it and saying the original is better. Did I mess up by rebuying it?

I played the original to death back then and like all zombie games i moved onto the next. 120+ hrs. Going back to DI after DE was an experience. The menus are not as fluid/intuitive as DE, the map/journal? is different. The biggest eye opener was the harsher older Dx9 visuals. Those would make a crt proud. But i will still play it.
DE does feel and look better. DI is more nostalgia, for me

i only play DE not the old one but i did see the walkthought of the old the view is better on the new

I started playing for the first time yesterday since I completed it on my xbox 360 back in 2011. I have about 10 hours in and I'm having a blast playing and I haven't come across any issues yet

The worst change for me is the weapons in the original showed their damage per hit and in the definitive edition they show their damage per second. I think the weapons looked nicer in the original version too.

That's because they weren't dying light guns which as far as my gun knowledge is they are fiction and aren't real life guns or at least i dont think they resemble any that i know of unlike the original game that had the infamous ak47 and dessert eagle oh and shotguns were brilliant in the original they always blew limbs off every shot but in the definitive edition even with a critical shot it doesn't do much besides from leaving disappointment
