Why I didn't play Dead Island (expecting a fix in this one, or I won't touch this one either)
I like to play my games at a locked 60 fps with a mouse and keyboard. When I installed Dead Island original, my 980 Ti was pushing upwards of 600 frames per second in the game treating this old game like a piece of cake, of course. I couldn't take all the screen tearing, so I applied vsync like I do with all my games. And, behold, all hell broke loose. I had never seen a video game stutter so much on my PC before. I ran afterburner to see what is going on. Afterburner reproted everything normal. The fps counter showed a solid 60 fps at all times and a stable 16.6 ms frame-time across the board. But, what I was seeing felt nowhere near 60 fps; it rather felt like 25-30 fps with lots of judders and what not. Its just not even playable to my standards. I took to the internet to see what is this weirdness, and after extensive research I found out that it is inherent to the game engine. The engine somehow does not work properly with keyboard. Some people suggested changing some keyboard repeat settings on the control panel, others told me to install this third party fixer-mod called dead island helper. Even with all this in place, although it got better, there was still an awful amount of choppiness and judder with the game when used with a keyboard. I plugged in my controller, and, behold, it works like a charm. Such a silly bug left untreated by the devs.. how come?

Anyway, I'm a PC gamer. I don't deal with analog thumbsticks to play games. I couldn't get dead island to work to my satisfaction (couldn't stand the choppiness coming from the keyboard bug). My question is, will this bug be fixed in this release? If someone from the dev team or anyone who knows comes across this post, feel free to leave a response. Thanks.

P.S. For anyone wondering what I'm talking about, there are numerous posts in the original dead island game steamforums in regards to this problem, such as http://steamcommunity.com/app/91310/discussions/0/611698195156950421?ctp=2

UPDATE (Pretty much fixed): With the new Dying Light engine, its now far far better. It now feels like a proper 60 fps game. But, I still feel like the keyboard has some heaviness to it. There is some keyboard acceleration issues. But, it's certainly playable now to me. Thanks devs.

The mouse input could do with a little filtering also

Dying Light was just fine with 60. No stuttering. So if Dead Island have now the Dying Light engine will be all right

This problem should be gone now in this new version, since it uses The Dying Light engine instead. Granted, the Dying Light engine comes with its own problems too and it's possible new issues might pop up in the Definitive Version.

the thing is, no first person shooter (DI is not so classical shooter, but it has similar gameplay) should be played with vsync on. that being said, i know tearing is bad without it on many games, for me too. so solution might be running it without vsync, but in borderless windowed mode, since all windowed modes eliminate tearing. we'll see i guess, i just hope it has option for borderless windowed mode (even if not, there are softwares for that).
