Have you lost a favorite weapon when thrown as a ranged weapon?
I'm playing Sam B in the game and am throwing things quite often to kill enemies at range So far I have had two occasions where I threw my favorite kick-ass weapon only for it to totally disappear and I'm unable to find it. Normally if you hunt around it is normally somewhere just around or just past where the enemy died and its blinking so you can find it pretty easy. But I've lost my "go to" weapon twice in this way, both times in the sewers. One time it hit the enemy, clobbered it and even came bouncing back at me but it was gone when I looked around for it. I've never lost a thrown weapon above ground and I've thrown 3 in a single battle. Does anyone else have tales of woe losing a weapon in this way when its thrown? I lost a fully upgraded dependable mace and then a "barbed wire" hanbo this way.

Yeah, the item itself doesn't just go up in smoke. If it's a blunt weapon it often flies off to some random ass area near by, And knives usually are still stuck in the cbody of the enemy afterwards. Just make sure that the area you threw the bladed weapon is face up when the enemy dies.

I remember first time that happened. I spent hours looking for the blade.
better to level up a bunch at a time, then get new weapons at that or next level. A level 21 weapon is not much use at level 31. The game is designed that you have to keep changing weapons, so dont let loosing a weapon get u down.

Logan has Boomerang skill-set.
Sam skill-set is best at blunt melee not throwing, so use poison throwing knifes, thery're cheap so doesn't if loose any, don't think you can loose them as designed for throwing, or keep a low value weapon to throw.

Basic dont use special weapons for throwing unless you have boomerang skill, as a chance you wont find them, or if you throw a weapon and die, the weapon could be gone. Those 'Helpme' things are worst, so dont throw good stuff at them.

Best to use skill set, as each gives a different playability.

Right, and I spent quite a while looking for both of the weapons that disappeared too. Right now I've switched to throwing a knife because as you and Tomato have noted, it sticks in the victim so easier to find again. Well except for the "Suicider" guys since they explode. What's funny is throwing at a Thug and having it stick and then be sitting there in its chest just begging to be pulled out and reused :-) I haven't tried it yet as one hit from them will take a huge chunk of your life.

As you say, losing my fave weapon twice made me start to rethink leveling up better weapons instead of sticking with what I had. I've never bought a weapon from a store yet but there was a level 23 mace that I was considering but it disappeared the next time I went to the store.

So as Sam B I mainly use throwing to take out the "Suicider" and thin a herd of Infected running at me from a distance. I don't want to waste pistol ammo that I can use on Punks. I'm starting to wonder how hard it will be when I come up against the Butcher in later acts as the walkthrough advises they can only be beat with guns. Have you been able to beat a Butcher as Sam B using mainly blunt weapons rather than shotguns, machine guns, etc.

Generally speaking, if you're not playing as Logan, throwing weapons is best left to:
-junk e.g. pipes, paddles, broomsticks, shovels, and the junk weapons Moresby zombies drop as loot
-knives with the explosive mod attached
>weapons that are broken and are both too weak and worth too little to be worth dragging to a shop over grabbing new loot
And of course the grenades and molotovs.

For suiciders, just shoot them, it's only 2 bullets from a pistol in most cases and the amount of ammo you get from just one group of punks is generally enough to fill the entire ammo container up from empty to full. Plus, the shop near the abandoned house where you get a couple sidequests from the ex-military guy sells ammo often.
