How to save?

I almost feel embarassed that I have to ask this because chances are I'm being stupid but how do you save the game? It has happend twice for me now that I quit the game (by going to the menu and simply pressing "quit") and then when I start the game again I'm at the same checkpoint as last time, it has happend twice for me now and I've done some real progress inbetween, so it's getting rather annoying. I have not paid attention to any save icons or such since I've assumed the game will automatically save. Are there certain save points, or am I missing something?

after evry quest or taking a quest u get a checkpoint= save, sometimes randomly in the game tere is a red loading thing in the corner of the map showing as checkpoint as well.

Auto save only pal, when you see that hazmat icon pop up in the I think bottom right it means it is saving

Also as for check point, the one you spawn at is effected by what QUEST you have picked as your tracked one at the current time, you'll spawn at the clostest checkpoint to it, hell I cut out a load of leg work once, to drop off so Brand Champange, by having Time For Booze tracked, and then while at the lifeguard tower went and loaded to last checkpoint and went right from the Lightguard Tower to spawning outside the building the turn in point for Time For Booze was

Thank you! thought I'm a bit confused since I've completed several quests and sidequests inbetween my sessions, and still when I start up the game they put me at the same checkpoint, at the "safe house" you get after clearing it out and helping the people escape that small hut at the beach. After I start there I've always made it to the lighthouse and helped a few people, but still they throw me back there, odd.

As I said depends on the quest you have tracked at the time, like next you're on go try what I said, if you have some Brand Champange to turn in, just fast travle to the Lifeguard Tower (if you''re not already there) make Time For Booze your tracked Quest and pause, then hit load to last checkpoint and bamb you've cut out a load of leg work

Actually you got a point, turns out I only respawned at the nearest safe house, I thought I lost progress since the guy always repeats the same lines when you encounter him, so all along I was being stupid just as I feared haha! thank you for your help, really appreciate it :-)

Np, and now you know a quick way to get away, you could call it a second form of fast travle XD
