Disgusting Screen Blur While Sprinting

Is there anyway to turn this off? It looks ♥♥♥♥ing horrible! The edges of the screen start to blur and when you're almost out of stamina your whole screen goes burry and you can't see 10ft in front of you like your character is about to pass out, it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying

disable motion blur in the game options
OR modify the video.scr file in documents\deadislandde\out\settings

I've disabled motion blur because I hate it in any game, but the effect is still there
