Start game,

Go to ONLINE in options menu

Set the mode to PUBLIC, or PRIVATE. Then you can start inviting your friends. And do note that people can join randomly if you have it on public.

Atleast in the original version of dead island the game occasionally asks you if you want to join another player while your playing alone and tells you what button you need to press to join them

its the same as the first Dead island, you first need to play the first part of the game untill you get on the beach and help the people in the little hut. after you done that, you can join players that are at the same part as you are. most of the time a pop-up on the topright of your screen wil come to ask you if you want to join that person. Also... in the options, check if you have the internet settings on "Internet" and not "Private". If you want to join a friend, press START/ESC and go to "Game Lobby", there you can see which person you can join. Also you can join a friends game, even if he's at chapter 10. i hope this helped. Offtopic. the game looks great, but FULL of bugs -,-
