They still have to meet a sales threshold on EGS itself to make good on their part of the contract, that's how this works.
No one truly gets money for free in the business world without reason and contract.
Besides, that money goes to the publisher, not the studio and not the devs.
I don't know much how is true but I don't stand on any side, if the money helps them it's their choice.
I would think devs are competent to do their math if the exclusivity hurts them or not
It’s not up to the devs on what platform to launch the game on that’s higher ups and big investors
They are first time devs and know sweet bugger all about what they need to do to meet sales expectations, and the way they went about treating their first userbase was appalling, so I wouldn't even remotely take their word for it on "not needing sales".
The court documents from the Epic vs Apple court case showed and told us that the contracts made with Epic and a dev, is that the dev gets the money, yes, but they also need to meet a sales threshold on Epic as their part of the deal.
Wait, so you're basing entire purchases purely on cheevo hunting?.
People actually dedicate their entire gaming lives to that falsehood these days?, I thought that died shortly after the 360/PS3 era.
Not now. Not ever. ♥♥♥♥ you, Deep Silver.
Well, you thought wrong. Why does it matter to you anyways.
These deals are designed to benefit the publishers, not you or the devs.
Except I didn't, because you only talked about cheevos, so are you not going to buy the game on Epic due to cheevos also being supported?.
Steam supports cheevos, you can just buy it a year later? (no idea why you'd buy a game like this that's been swapped around multiple times and also has an exclusivity deal).
Also I do not support epic practices so I will wait for sale anyway, even when it comes to steam or other shops.
Well you seem to not understand what you said about achievements dying "since the ps3 and 360 era" when that's obviously not true. You seem to be so triggered by someone buying a game or not by the fact they look at achievements being included or not as a means to purchase. I do but it's not a make or break it. I find it fun and adds to the fun factor of a game and it's motivating. You seem to assume I would spend every waking moment in game to get every one of them or that it's a end all don't buy list because of it.
To call it a "falsehood" makes no sense. You could argue the same for simply playing a video game in general. That's a silly assertion.
Some thing you should consider is, data clearly shows people enjoy achievements which means you are nothing but an opinion. Many though decided it's indifferent. Doesn't matter.
Games wouldn't be including them if they're "dying" and the ps3 and 360 what was that 3 generations ago? Another stupid assertion as games are clearly still including them. It's an area Epic games has even decided to jump in on. It does add some what a motivational factor in it as well but again, it's not a end all choice if that's what you're wanting to hear just don't assume because people like them, that's a deciding factor as I said. "Who cares" should've been a prominent statement.
