why is epic games so bad that you just cant buy the game

i mean yeah the epic games store kinda sucks compared to steam but is it really THAT bad? can someone tell me why they wont buy dead island 2 because its egs exclusive? want to hear just why its that bad apparently

I play all 3 games. I don't even know where the store is.
One or two games on Steam use part of the app, that's about it.

i like collecting achievements on here so that kind of takes some value away for me, plus i can wait a year until its on steam, deep silver only does year exclusives with epic anyways

yeah i get the achievement hunting kinda, but i really only achievement hunt if theres a game i really like. im probably gonna buy it on epic after seeing some footage and reviews on it first to confirm its not a bf 2042 or saints row remake situation where it plays like a moblie game

They said FU to PC gamers and went with Xbox, and now they're back all of a sudden because they smelled some money.

Yeah... not falling for that. I have zero confidence their store will be up and running in three years time.

Oh and the fact that their Unreal Engine sucks doesn't help either.

They activly pay alot of money so that you cant buy games on the platform that you want to buy it on.

They are going for a 10 year plan, when fortnite kids are older they will stick to epic games store, but only because they are so dumb that they dont understand how they got used in the progress.

i get the slow clunkly launcher thing, but i want some proof on the saying ♥♥♥♥ you to pc and going to xbox untill going back to pc, also im not a game dev but unreal engine has made a ♥♥♥♥ ton of good games so i dont think it sucks. i dont know what elixx means by "paying alot of money so that you cant buy games on the platform you want to buy it on" does that mean pc launchers or consoles? if so could i have some examples of games exclusive on just the epic games launcher and no where else? dead island 2 is gonna be released on xbox and playstaion and all that so i really dont know what you mean. final thing, i dont know the history behind the saints row remake if it was just destined to fail by the hands of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev and publishing or if epic games ruined it so if someone could tell me which one it is i can make my own assumptions from there. either way yall can just wait a year or whatever to wait till dead island 2 comes out on steam and buy it then, ill probably buy it on epic games launcher though

I think Unreal Engine sucks because:
-Every game suffers from shader compilation stutter, destroying performance on PC. Even the fastest cards can't plow through it, you'll always get microstutters.

And a minor issue for some but major issue for me:
-No native ultrawide support, resulting in every UE game looking like ass on an ultrawide.

I'm not buying the game on Epic, that's for sure.

the problem I have with epic games is its business practice (throwing money at just about anything to get exclusives) has caused serious damage to their brand. yes the store and launcher has its issues but eventually that will go away over the years. however, the fact that its pay upfront method of doing things is an easy out for bad games to get some money no matter what has caused their store to be flooded with crap titles full of bugs, micro transactions, or that are just bad in general. so it now has the reputation that if a game ends up on epic there has to be something wrong with it.

they do eventually snag something good but those are rare. it just ends up easier to write off the epic store completely especially when you also throw in the current problems it still has with its store and launcher just making things just more annoying. not the emotion you are looking for when you just want to sit back and play games after work.

thats why you gotta look at game footage and reviews before you buy it, though i get why you just forget it in general. i think dead island 2 might be one of those rare good titles though seeing from the current footage we got from it. it really sucks how in this industry we cant just look at box art or descriptions to see if we would like a game and have a bug free good time with it without looking at reviews and stuff. games should be something where you dont have to worry about buying some poorly made "AAA" game that was made for money in mind and not true passion to make something fun or tell a good tale.

i like to have all my games on one plattform -> steam. i never experienced any heavy problems on steam in 20years. Steam got a nice storepage,forum,friendlist,searchfunction, controller support, family share and many more little features that are just so convenient.

epic store is just a store without functionality. they force their epic online services spyware in every game. epic store solely exist because of fortnite and the free games they throw out.

i only trust gog and steam. the other plattforms have many problems.
