Quantum Star trader on trade station in orbit of starter planets.
Bertrams and Servant Corp traders found in various trade stations.
Note: you must have started a new game after the trading changes to see the new traders.
Of course i didn't find a single optronics part in all those bases i took out
That said it does force you to travel and in doing so you end up discovering all sorts of stuff to gather and explore. So while it is kind of 'grindy' it kind of isn't either. The whole process, ft you take your time and stuff your ship with everything you come across can take the entire game session but you will fine that it is worth it in the end.
The prices kind of pissed me off at the beginning but once you can figure out what your traders are looking to buy you realize you have 500000 worth of junk just sitting in your cargo containers waiting to be sold. After the first time it seems easier too.
I sold everything but of the epic weapons (wich mostly dont sell anyway) and a medium armor.
I think it would be great to be able to craft all the special stuff (like miner cores, optronics, medium and heavy armor as well as make epic weapons) with some rare ingredient though.
Like say, a destilate, the blue shining Empyriol (made out of hate smurfs=) or found in loot.
It could be put in as an event like a comet entering the playfield (no idear if that is posible) on wich one could find it too or simply as a rare asteroid or deposite.
I realy think that this is just what rare loot does, and what goal is there in this game then exploration. It´s not like we can found our own imperium (if you´re SP). So not getting what we need if not going out and looking for it (wile stumbling across unexpected stuff) sounds about right to me.
I am a fanboy, but I agree it is meaningless to aim at looting your way to the item. Best is to simply buy it after you accumulated enough credits. Because overall the game is too easy, obtaining hundreds of thousands of credits is an easy thing to do.
It's nice that credits have a use. It's good that they work in some ways to make it useful to use the traders and for the ingame currency.
