Empyrion - Galactic Survival

What *is* my actual seed?
Start a new game with seed 1. Then open console and it says Playfield Elverius with seed 207934

With my current game I picked a random seed but wanted to start over in the same seed but the seed given in the console is NOT the actual seed as this seed has a different starterplanet and a different galaxy
Which leads my to my question
What is my actual seed I am playing on ?

The game gives you a new seed each time, so you can't see the old seed once the game starts. (I usually put the seed in the title of the game). There is a way to see the seed in some config file after the game starts but I haven't done it in a while and I have forgotten how to do it. Hopefully someone else will help out here.

No way to get your seed later.
Next time make a screenshot when you start a seed (F12)

hehe thats what i thought when i realized it

seems like they could figure out a way for something to save that data to a file somewhere but ...
for now i just make sure to note it (i save a text file with it in the save folder) or as suggested you could take a ss

unfortunatly that doesnt help you after the fact

What works for me is to put the seed number in the title of the game.
I'm still thinking you can find the seed somewhere in some file...I'll poke around a bit and see if I can find anything.
Shame on you May 27, 2018 @ 10:20am

Hummel himself asked a player if he knows the Seed to his savegame.
(hummel had the savegame from the player)
So i guess you will have no luck

Here's what I found at the bottom of the page (its a text file):

26-18:11:19.433 11_11 -LOG- Playfield 'Polaera' with seed 634411 loaded (1473 ms)

this is about 10-30 lines from the bottom.
I know more than Hummel about something?? !!
Unfortunately that isn't the game seed ,that is the playfield seed. to test start a new game write the random seed number down and recheck your file.

Already confirmed that it is playfield seed, not game seed.

I suggest to name your saved data as seed numbers after you pick or random game seed before starting the game. Ex. If I click random, and it shows 459234, and I click on set, I name game saved as 'Solo_459234', or pick any word as long as you type exact seed numbers in it. That is only way to know what seed you're playing. For server, that's different story. You can set specific seed numbers on yaml file before starting server anyway. It's alway there. Make sure to back up server yaml files in case of update might overwrite those files.

darnit. it was such a awesome seed. 5 planets within SV warping range. 3 planets needed a CV warp. All the ores id ever need were within 7AU range. crap crap crap
Next time Ill remember to use your tip, Topaz. Thanks anyway guys

Bummer. I should have double checked before I posted! My bad :steamfacepalm:

The seed you select at start up of a senario (not custom one thats premade from workshop) determins the secondary seeds (selection of playfields). This is why changing the Senario seed changes everything.

Senario seed determines the random playfield seeds according to a RandomPresets yaml file.

These yaml changes to planet, moon, asteroid, and trade station count are one of the few direct ways to change the Senario seeds. Most changes you make however apply to the playfield seed...

Playfield seed is selected at random by Senario seed. Thus, its not easy to change this seed yourself (unless you know something about that that I currently dont). Each playfield will have its own seed so as to make each version of that playfield (like say Alien Planet) different from others of the same type.

The Senario's randomly selected playfield seeds will randomize said playfield according to selected playfield yamls.

Most yaml changes made are to playfield seed random generation yaml files, static (POI, Ore, mob spawn points, drone atks, and PV) and dynamic (Terrain generation rules, Stamps rules, and planet stats like humidity). These are what define the large degree of randomness within said playfield. Bumping up the Iron Ore min/max in a static file will consequently increase the occurrence of iron ore within playfield seed randomness.

SSG (Solar System Generator) can be used to preview the Senario seed's selection of playfield seeds and how they generate. Consequently it also make it very easy to see how a small change to one yaml can completely changethe entire senario (try adding an extra asteroid field to a RandomPreset file and check the results in SSG over several senario seeds)

Simple answer is this

The seed you select before game launchis your senario seed.

Playfield seed is selected by the senario seed.

Have you try using the console to see what your seed is, use the ~ key to access the console.
