Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Hosting a dedicated server on same machine...
So I have tried looking through the guides and videos and from what I can tell I have the server running.

I made backups or the dedicated.yaml and EmpyrionDedicated command script file. I went and edited them and when I run EmpyrionDedicated i get the little GUI window pop up that from what I can tell means the server is up and running.

I have it set to port 30000 and I have gone into windows firewall and allowed access for EmpyrionDedicated.exe.. Also I have the port forwarding set in thr router from like 29600-30004 since it seems to cover all the bases of what epople talk about.

When I go into the game on my PC (which is the same as the server is being hosted on) i can see the server on the multiplayer list. (most of the time, though sometimes it takes 5 min to show up).

However, when I try connecting to the server one of 3 things tends to happen. Either it puts me right back to the main screen with new game, multiplayer and the like. Or it just freezes up on the Loading screen. Lastly if I manage to get to the point where I choose a starting location I get the red Connection to Server Lost show up on top of the screen.

In my admittedly limited knowledge it seems as if the server is running and that I may be missing something with firewall or other network configs.

Also my connection is PC>Hardwired to Router>Modem> The Interwebs

If anyone has any insight that would keep me from going any further toward insanity the help would be appreciated.

The first note tells you what to do. Empyrion binds port 30000 for the built in, unsupported co-op server. Change the server port so there's no conflict.

Well it seems I mistyped, 30000 is what I had in at first. However I did in fact change it to 29600 which is what I currently have in the dedicated.yaml.

try connecting to your server by manually entering this address: 127.0.0.1

What does that do?
