Latest Update via steam: security risk Heur.AdvML.B update halted
This is what Norton Protect (latest definitions applied today) says when I try to update Empyrion via the steam Library:

Norton Protect is processing security risk Heur.AdvML.B

Norton then prevents the update from proceeding.

On checking the Downloads tab it lists the Empyrion update as Unscheduled 44.8Mb
with missing downloaded files, probably the items that Norton intercepted.

What is this? Is it a glitch or does Update have a virus?
Is the update a real update or has someone hacked steam and inserted a fake download? Because I don't see any accompanying details of the update in the steam info panel in the Library Screen.
What should I do? Wipe Empyrion and Re-Download?

I had this too. It could be that not many users have this file so Norton thinks it suspicious. I'm gonna hang on and see if it gets fixed.

This also happens when developers don't register certificates with Microsoft. Norton's position right now is that malicious code has been found, and a case has already been published for both exe files in question.

This is very interesting - I will wait until Norton gives the ok for the update rather than making an exception for the these files. I like to be on the cautious side of the fence when it comes to security.
Thanks for the info.

I did some research into Heur.AdvML.B and found this website run by cyber security peoples:

https://howtoremove.guide/heur-advml-b/

It is a chilling read.

I think making an exception in your antivirus is not a wise course of action considering the damage that could be done if you were to encounter the Heur.AdvML.B (which the folks on the website describe as: ' Trojans, like Heur.advml.b, are very dangerous programs ...etc,etc ')

I hope everything gets resolved soon, I am needing some Empyrion gameplay to sooth my troubled mind.
