Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Empyrion - Galactic Survival

Hitman Pro Blocking game
So i havent played the game in awhile but started up again and now my antivirus is blocking empirion from even loading. Hitman Pro Alert keeps flagging the game and not sure why and it will not let me bypass it keeps shutting the game down before i can een load it.

The error that i get when i try to load the game, Hitman pro alert pops up saying that tehre is malicious code in the game start after the last patch so it blocks it from doing anything.

So i disabled hitman pro, tried to load the game and once i hit start it totally stops and game does not load. I have verified integrity of all files.

You'll probably have to disable 'Cryptoguard' while running the game (found this whilst searching the Hitman forums, came across a similar issue with someone having an issue with Dropbox). Looks like you've already tried disabling the software altogether, so my next thought would be to ask if you've verified the integrity of the game's files before or after you disabled your antimalware? The reason I ask would be if you tried verifying while Hitman was still running, it might automatically be pulling any new/updated files directly into quarantine (though I'd imagine you'd be getting alerts about those, too), causing your game to be in a constant state of limbo.

Beyond that, your question is probably better suited for the Hitman Pro forums, as it certainly seems like an issue caused by their software. It seems like it can be awfully inconsistent and troublesome at best in regards to the amount of false-positives it hands out when it shouldn't. I would personally try completely uninstalling Hitman from your PC, and then completely uninstall/reinstall Empyrion afterwards. Be sure to back up your Saves and Blueprints folders first, if you've anything you'd like to keep!

YeP i verified file integrity. what i eventually had to do was disable ALL virus scanners, malware scanners etc. I had to pretty much leave my system open to any attack, not to happy about that. So i have submtited a trouble ticket to them pretty much telling them this needs resolved cause no way am i going to leave my computer open to attackers.

Can you not make a exception in your anti virus for empyrion/empyrion.exe ?

Maybe but i use AVast, hitman pro AND unhack me. Just for safety reasons ever since ransomeware came out and I work on Human Rights Commissions for State of california. So i have to keep even my private home computer secure. Gonna see if i can add it as an exception to each one.

HitmanPro.Alert doesn't like Empyrion. I don't think you can set any exceptions with this version, just have to disable it, which is a pain and not something I enjoy doing.

I think the standard version of HitmanPro has the option to ignore, but not the Alert version. So far only Empyrion has this problem, other Steam games seem fine.

Actually im finding more and more Pre-erlease alpha test games that Hitman Pro Alert does NOT like. Just bought The Forest, i have to totally disable every malware and Virus scan to play it so SOMETHING is up. This needs to have a resolution within steam maybe cause i cant be leaving my system open to intrusions.

One "solution" is stop playing games on anything you use for work. (One you don't sound keen on, fair enough.)

You are the one who made the choice of anti-malware software AND you are wanting to play EA games based on the Unity Engine.

Therefore, IMHO, thinking Steam/Valve should "solve" it for you is ignorant.
Please, before you get your hackles up, let me explain:

They Publish game FOR people, they don't do much else.
It's the game designers who use Unity Engine.
Unity is a free game design platform made by many people through open source.
(generally meaning there are thousands of people involved on that end of things = "not likely to find any resolution")

If ANY "outside group" can solve it, it's the fine folks who made Hitmanpro; by making an exception for whatever "public source code" they are flagging in the Unity Engine.

Until such a time as YOU work with them finding a solutiuon, you will just have to deal with the current reality.

And for future reference, whenever a specific software behaves in a way you do not like, remember it is up to YOU to get the people who made it to "fix the issue", and not anyone else. Much like other aspects of life.

Umm ok.....Thats all i can think of to politely respond.....Because i will not feed into people who disagree with others questions or problems when asking a quesiton. Enough said.

Are you running the full version of Avast? If you are, just ue that. You don't need the rest of that nonsense.

Also, Grimm is right, and you never asked a question. You just told us what was wrong and that you submitted a ticket in entirely the wrong place.

*shrug*

(Entirely the right place being either with Eleon or with Hitman Pro. Steam is a digital rights management platform and marketplace where other people put their products up for sale. They have no control over how a game they allow a publisher to list works with your system. This doesn't need a resolution within Steam, it needs a resolution within Hitman and Eleon)

BUT there is no issue with making suggestions that the issue be fixed for new games that are pre release because if i am having the problem so are others which MAY limit the developers sales of the games because not everyone is going to want to disable their anti-virus or malware. So at the time when i submitted this post it APPEARED to be a bug because i had played priorly without any issues of the game being blocked by any anti-virus. These forums are supposed to be for feedback, possible bugs, and we do not know if they are bugs or not unless they are submitted for constructive feedback.

Fair enough. Even in that case, though, it's an Eleon issue, not a Steam one, I think is what people were trying to explain to you.

By the way, were you able to actually get your issue sorted out? Someone linked a way to whitelist the app in HMP.

Also, I run the full version of Avast, and it catches *everything* as it's got anti-hiijack, anti-malware, anti-spyware and everything else under the sun already built in. There's really no need to run all of those different apps, and they're likely causing serious conflicts with one another, creating issues you wouldn't otherwise see.

I run two programs: SpywareBlaster (adds a ton of sites to hosts.deny and doesn't really do much else) and Avast Antivirus. I worked in network security, and I didn't recommend any more than that for all but the most demanding of enterprise customers. Those people got 24/7 human-monitored solutions that run into the thousands of dollars per month. You don't need that level of protection, though. A $40/yr Avast subscription should have you running 5x5 and surfing with confidence.

At the moment i am just disabling all malware or virus blocking programs like AVAST and hitman pro etc when i am playing specific games. And it only seems to be affecting certain new pre-release games or games that have made a patch and it affects the core game files which is weird. So far i have found that it is only affecting two games that i play which is empyrion and now The Forest. All other games run fine and i own A LOT of games lol. Would be nice to find a workaround and I am looking into adding it to the exception lists. I have emailed hitman pro makers to figure out a workaround, no response from them.
