Food - Perish Time and Stacks
I was a bit taken aback by the way food perish times work with the new stacking. I understand it is based on an average

I would like to go on record as saying that I would prefer food that has a different perish time to stack separately, i.e., the same mechanism as right now in terms of all food stacks have a perish time, but if you attempt to stack food @ 4 with food @ 24 it will not work. This will mean you need larger food storage.

I find the averaging of perish times not very intuitive, and it makes me feel a bit cheated that I bothered to farm and store

Honestly, once you put the food into the fridge, even with perish time of 1, you can eat it without moving it to your inventory, risking spoiling.

The current mechanic is placeholder, at least that is what I think. For now it works and as long as you have means to carry a fridge with you there is no way for it to spoil. If you do not have a fridge, just use long perish time crap.

In relation to your issue - yes, you would need larger storage. Well, the tier 2 fridges can solve that no problem. They would be even more useful if your idea was to go through..

I think in adition any food put in the fridge should just have its perish time stopped. if food can last past its perish time in the fridge then why have the count continue. Perish time could be made to only count down when food is not in a fridge.

In think even the T2 fridge would fill very fast if you couldn't stack foods with different perish times. Maybe a T3 deep freazer. 2x2x2 that holds something like 10 t2 fridges worth of food in an area 8 times the size.

Uh... doesn't it? I've never noticed things spoiling unusually quickly when I remove them from my fridges, so I would assume that this is already the case.

Unless it was changed in the 3.4 update my food in the fridge still showed a diminishing perish time down to a day. So something with a 10 day perish time would keep in the fridge for 20 days but I would only have a day to consume it once removed.
