Way to delete a ship or structure
In survival mode, want a way to recycle a ship or structure without aiming the multitool at each block and holding down the trigger. I know it's possible to delete items from the game via the files, (although how to do so is obscure and not clear in my mind).

So a way to make this easier to do? (Without "flying" the item into a volcano and the obvious limitations of such a suggestion.)

Delete or recycle? The two are very different. For delete, use the di command, look at the structure to get the ID and 'destroy ID'. You'll get no materials back. There is no fast recycle where you get the materials.

I think he want's the files to be easier to understand or an in game option that doesn't use the console to completely remove any unused structures before the despawn timer on servers

I can just imagine the howls of dismay from people after they accidentally delete their class 3 ship.

ok I get it but for admins that want to delete only the poi's on the planet they want to reset would be nice

Why would they not want to use those console commands for that?

because when you reset a playfield usually you don't have the server running but hey what do I know right?

If I understand what you suggesting here, you can get that by removing the POI reference from the planet's playfield.yaml.

So, like, for example, if you wanted to delete the Abandoned Factory from Omicron on the next reset, you would go to the Steam\Steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\name-of-game\Templates\Desert\playfield.yaml file and then find where it says POIs: and then underneath that delete the paragraph that looks like this:

- GroupName: AbandonedFactory CountMinMax: [ 1, 1 ] DroneProb: 1.0 DronesMinMax: [ 2, 2 ] ReserveCount: 3 TroopTransport: True

However, if you were really asking for something else, I think I would need to ask again why they would not want to do this...

but does that cause the poi to respawn as new? I want an option to regen all poi's as well

No, that deletes the POI on reset, which was what I thought you were asking for.

If you want to do something that is not deleting the POI you should probably be doing that in a topic which is different from a suggestion thread titled "Way to delete a ship or structure".

I think you should go back and read what I was asking, again.
