Small vessel drill
Mining is fun early game as part of survival but gets very tedious in the late game grind when trying to build big ships. Simple solution: add a small vessel drill that is proportionally powerful and collects ore directly to the small ship cargo or assembler. Alternatively, add a cargo box right on the drill.

the auto mining devices are better because they extract ore without destroying landscape and as a server admin I know resetting planets and pois is a pain

The problem is this business of sliding when you tilt the SV in any direction. It would make using a drill very difficult indeed. If we have a means to prevent it, (a buildable stability module for SV's), that would allow us to drill down, up or in any direction from any attitude without the SV becoming uncontrollable.

I'm amazed that CV's can use drills, but not SV's. The HV is uncontrolable unless you stop drilling so it can get it's barings and stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sliding everywhere inside the cave you are digging.
Add mining tools to SV's too, cause using HV's is like a pingpong ball on a table with 20 monkeys hitting it all over the place.

And HV's should've been wheel based vehicles. They should be very slow, but in return very powerful tools and weapons. And we need to be able to controll landing gear ourselves, so we can extend and extract landing gear using keys, and lock and unlock using keys. And also should be able to lock gear on to other vehicles, so we can transport them, unless they're too heavy (Also depending on gravity) as well as cargo containers that are not bound to SV,HV,CV or BA.

Wheel physics are very costly for the CPU in voxel based games.

It really depends on how it's done. Quite often, the rotation is purely aesthetic and the wheel "hovers" a couple of millimetres off the ground. This is often why many games have the problem of small rocks stopping you dead. The circular rolling wheel is not taken into consideration with the hover ability, so it doesn't actually roll over a rock.
