You can!

Find the playfield you want to change:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Content\Playfields

(TemperateStarter) is the start planet

Open the folder, and open (with a text editor) playfield_debug.yaml

Find this part:

# Sun
SunFlare: EnvironmentalEffects/SunFlareBlue

Now open the file playfield_static.yaml

Find this part:

# Sun
SunFlare: EnvironmentalEffects/SunFlareBlue

You can change the SunFlareBlue out for:

SunFlareBlue
SunFlareRed
SunFlareRedSpace
SunFlareWhite
SunFlareWhite2
SunFlareWhite3
SunFlareWhite3Space
SunFlareWhite4
SunFlareWhite4Space
SunFlareWhiteMoon
SunFlareWhiteSpace
SunFlareYellow
SunFlareYellow2

The stars in the space playfield view can be changed.

The central star shown in the sector map is fixed.

We'll probably get this if/when we get multiple solar systems.

sun flare is different than sun color I think... and yes...we need any easy way to do this.

Not when on a playfield (space/or planet)

I'd post screen shots, but then I would be giving away the planet(s) I am making.

I am surprised many of the playfield options aren't in the game setup screen. (Under advanced setup or something)

PS: I am working on an editor to make this sort of stuff easy. So eventually we'll have something that is user friendly :)
