The devs made it so you can only purchase it from traders, and it may or may not also be in the possible loot tables, but you can't craft it.
Funny enough they DID add a crafting template to make it from biofuel, which fits in well with the description, but they then commented it out so the game can't see it......
My favorite part about Empyrion is the console. Open your console. Type 'itemmenu', then hit your H key. It will open the entire item menu. Take as many flamethrower fuel as you need. Then move on with your game. You paid money to have fun with your game. Make it fun.
Yeah, I thought that was a ridiculous decision in a sandbox game to *take away* the ability for the player to craft something they want to use. This isn't X3 Reunion or something, we shouldn't have to depend on POI or traders for anything.
I get what they're trying to do, but make it a game mode, not *the game*.
Just play Reforged Eden instead. Less stupid design decisions. The flamethrower in RE just uses biofuel and there's an advanced version that uses its own unique fuel (but you can actually craft it).
I made my own scenario that is similar in those aspects.
I don't want to play RE, too complicated (mine is simplified as oppose to excessive).
My statement was just a general statement about the decisions of the devs.
Indeed, haha.
