Are the graphics public content?
Recently I came across a game called sunkenland (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2080690/Sunkenland/) i notice in the video trailer that the underwater plant life was exactly the same as found in Empyrion... that stunned me, as Ive only ever (in many many years) only seen this graphic in Empyrion, and it got to me wondering if somehow these graphics were public domain somehow, or if what i was seeing was stolen/ripped content?!?!

To be frank, i really dont know enough to make a judgement, so I thought it best to ask, rather than to accuse/judge.

Sunkenland is probably a Unity game. EGS is a Unity game. Unity has graphic assets that anyone can buy and use in their Unity games. NOT public domain and nothing ripped off.

Empyrion and Sunkenland are both Unity games.
As such they both have access to the unity asset store.
They are both using (at least some) stock assets from the store.

Nothing is stolen or anything like that. All perfectly normal and legal.

Not just Unity even. I've seen Empyrion's creeper model crawling around beneath the walkways in Genesis Alpha One, an Unreal 4 game.

Not just that but there are various online stores you can buy licenses for usage of many 3d models.
I have seen empyrion stuff there myself, I have seen stuff there that I have seen in other games too.

Makes development cheaper/faster when the devs can buy stuff to use in the game rather than employ someone with the skill needed to make something unique, some devs buy models, textures, even code segments from websites supplying such assets.

Everything in EGS is all paid Unity Assets / 3D model sites and paid texture sites.

The only one that I'm aware of that isn't is the hull textures with the panel lines.
