Can you tell if a system is likely to have a Nascent moon before warping to it?
I've been looking for Zasconium for two play sessions now....about 4 hours or so of nothing but warping around...and I found some that I can't get to on account of being in a wuss ship. Other than that, nothing.
Someone said something about "Nascent moons", which I looked up to see are the red lava planets.

Well my question is...is there a way of being able to determine the likelihood that a system has one of these moons before warping to it? Like its that bad...I'm absolutely exhausted with just warping around...any chance in hell there's a way?

I'm not one to gripe, but I'm about done with Reforged Eden, I think....this hasn't been any fun at all, I really would give just about anything to get my hands on just...a thousand Zasconium and let me get on with my gameplay here...this has gotten silly. Any help/hints...anything would be greatly appreciated.

To my understanding you need to enter the sun orbit at least once to unlock the system map showing all bodies in the system and all info about ressources, but only info for the orbit playfield of the bodies, to know what's on a planet you need to descent below planet atmosphere (you don't need to land), this will change to a precise planet/moon map, this map is not watchable from space (if you have never been there you will have no idea about ressources whatsoever).
Once you are in the sun orbit for the 1st time, go in the system map view - which is now visible - and launch the 'info panel' by activating the square box on the upper left and chosing the planet tab on the right side, then you can point and hower over all bodies and asteroid fields and see what ressources are present in the right info, the info will dynamically change by simply howering over the bodies. Once you have visited planets and moons this info will update.
If you have never been in a system, you only get info about the star type and generic related info (star temperature, maybe radiation level etc) but no precise ressource info, you need to at least warp into the system 1 time. But still I may miss something.

Project Eden has entries in the Empyriopedia in the PDA to give you some hints.

I find planets/moons with the rarer ores almost constantly in reforged eden. usually I look around more massive stars like A, B, O, etc types but you can find them just about anywhere. you might just have to warp around a bit. like japp said above, you can warp into a star system and check the system map and turn on the info panel, then click on a planet and set the panel to show info about the planet. then just mouse over all the planets/moons in that system and see if they have the ore you're looking for. if not, warp to the next star system and repeat (watch your pentaxid levels, though. you don't wanna get stuck)

AFAIK by using a detector in orbit or on a planet you will only discover what the info panel displays in terms of ressources, nothing else, at least I never found an asteroid or ressource depot which is not in the list of the info panel for that system. So the info panel is your best friend for ressources. You can get finished products at traders in POIs of course (lingots instead of ressources).

There is much zascosium and zascosium alloy in legacy bases. You did not need to leave your start system.
grogez Feb 14, 2021 @ 12:02am
After leaving my start planet (Dread) I have been to just two other planets - Epsilon II and Epsilon VIII. So, without leaving my start system (Epsilon) I have found enough zascosium and zascosium alloy to make :
- all my cpu extenders
- 2 x advanced generators (2x6x2)
- 4 x drive thrusters
- 4 x large thrusters
- 4 x CV laser drill
- 4 x laser turret
- shield and warp drive upgrades

And I have more than 2000 zascosium ingots remaining. No mining has been involved. And Alpha, Beta and Delta are all much the same as Epsilon.

Learn what contains zascosium alloy by deconstructing it.

You know that you need to play longer than 5 Minutes ?

testgame started.
First jump to the next system
3 Planets
2 moons
4 Orbits
that had Zaskosium

Hey I got to ask here...do you think you helped anyone by posting something like this? I mean, you obviously took some minutes out of your day to create a new game, take this screen shot, post it, along with your other commentary. Do you really think it did me any good? Did you pat yourself on the back and think, "job well done"?
If so, maybe you could ask yourself who this was for, because it sure didn't seem like it was for someone going out of their damned mind trying to find Zasconium.

Also, I couldn't find that system in my map, are you playing Reforged Eden? If so, how heavily guarded was the deposit? Because as I said in my post, that's the issue I'm having with what I HAVE found.

This was WAY helpful...I had no idea you could do this, thanks for taking the time here man, very much. Just saved me a LOT of time.
Still haven't found any, but this sure is more efficient than what I was doing.

I like your last line, will definitely try that. I have to ask though, you're apparently just dripping with Zasconium, yet your starter planet was Dread...
Are you sure you're playing Reforged Eden?

There are usually Polaris Mining Stations in starter systems. They sell Zascosium and other harder to come by ores like Erestrum and Sathium - it's costly for your average start game budget though.

The Empyriopedia section of the PDA has a lot of general info like where to find Erestrum and Zascosium. Don't ignore it and the Eden mission to find a UCH research vessel!

Oh okay lol I've had blinders on a little bit here trying to find Zasconium thanks...hadn't even considered the quest route =P

Gotcha, at least an option though!

You either need to buy 'Lingots' of an ore somewhere at a trader, use a 'Deconstructor' and enter various devices (in that case you must know from what ressource they are built with), or...mine ore deposits.
For practical purposes I use to put everything I find in my constructor and take out only medic & food items and related raw materials, also most valuable things like finished weapons and devices that ought to give me lots of money if I sell them. Doing that way, the constructor can show immediately if you can construct a template and will only show what you are really missing.

Deconstructor:
Be sure to unlock the Deconstructor in your tech level first (F3 > Base or F3 > CV), or it will never appear unlocked in your constructor. Also get room because this device is a monster.

Yes. Dread is a start planet in both Project Eden and Reforged Eden. I much prefer RE. And I love Dread.

I started a new game (again) after the update yesterday. I had to search ALL of Dread - in an hv - to find the right variant of the building that holds the hidden deconstructors - usually this building variant is a bit more common.

There are heavy pieces of scrap that weigh 4 tons each and occupy 6 kL but when deconstructed yield a wealth of material. To my knowledge there are 5 variants of this scrap and one of them yields 16 zascosium alloy. Another variant has just one unit in it's composition. So far I have 88 zascosium alloy and have just finished building my sv. There is still a shedload of scrap to be collected as well as the advanced base cpu extender on the unfinished escape rocket which will increase my tally of zas alloy. (I've also found 5 improved cpu extenders) I'll leave the planet for the first soon though. Hopefully I'll find one or two of the crashed capital vessels that have a large thruster - more zascosium alloy.

And when you start raiding poi's, it's quite common to find laser rifles and sv laser cannons. Both provide handy amounts of z. alloy when deconstructed. Laser rifles also provide laser upgrade kits which are necessary to make both auto-miners and CV laser drills.
