Report a translation problem
I seem to have less issues then with coming too close to terrain.
Unfortunately the devs have said they can't give us manual control of landing gears or docking until/if they completely rework it again.
They hope to do that eventually but have made no promises yet.
So for now the options are relocate landing gear to a different place on the craft where you will have less issues, or remove them while mining.

Thanks, I'll try that.
My experience has been, if the LG hitbox is flush with the hull, the craft won't dock.
Likewise, if I try to put even a half-height block around the LG (so it appears recessed until the gear are deployed), it doesn't work.
