Aiming Gatling Gun on Hover Vehicle
I'm stuck. I have a gatling gun on my hover vehicle but I was wondering if anyone knew how to aim it. It's stationary so I can't really aim all that much. Kind of pointless.

you aim by moving the vehicle and watch where dirt is kicked up, the turrets and energy weapons aim better.

As above, and a good thing is to if you want the gattling guns is to put it in the middle of you're ship so it goes against the crosshairs or slap three on there giving you more leeway for the aim :)

C will lower you to the ground...
I've found "C" to be almost required to use non-turret GV weaponry when shooting at critters.

Space will raise you up, and shift-space will booster you up (If you hadn't done that yet).

And for flying stuff; drones, etc or tower turrets?
Yeah, GV weaponry won't help you there.

does an enemy have to be near for the gatling gun to fire?? been trying for awhile and cant get this thing to do anything... do i have to put ammo into a storage crate attched to the ship or something?

You don't need ammo for weapons unless they are personal hand-held ones.

You cannot be hurt inside your GV by animals. Drones and towers yes. Anyway, just cruise right up to them and shoot them point blank. You'll want to eliminate anything dangerous first so you can collect the loot.

Did you press a number key?

Note, when you get in a vehicle, your hotbar changes and moves. It's now at the right, showing your gun list for the vehicle you're in. If you pressed anything (so your gun isn't selected assuming you only have one) you won't fire when you try.

Otherwise it should fire... but the aim is... well, not good.

IF your gun were perfectly centered right in front of your cockpit, obscuring your view; you'd hit the center of the reticle with a gatling gun. But you couldn't see.
If your gun isn't in your way, expect it to fire low. If it's on the left or right, it'll be offeset left or right.
There is NO concept of aiming to the reticle; and no "zero point" for side-mounted guns. The shots will never cross.

I tend to go center-mounted, low enough not to be in my way, and aim high.

Patch this morning; your GV should stop going spacebound when you shoot.
That was a new bug this patch; I assumed they'd fix it rapidly.

Thankfully I was correct :)

So my question is.. what on earth is the use of even having the Gatling Gun as an option to put on a hover vehicle? I equate this to the tanks in WW2 at the battle of Kursk being sent in to battle against Russian Infantry with NO machine guns. The GG in this case is equally as useless. Doesn't appear that someone made a very intelligent decision on these weapons. Unless I'm missing a very strategically important objective in having them Locked in place and unable to swivel and fire.

as far as i saw it when i played, i saw it as a cheap and early weapon to get. was the first one i could make at the time

Way to necro, the only good thing about a gatling is dicing up the occasional critter for meat, bit now that weapons use ammo its better to get out and mount your turret toale sure you can hit it with as little waste as possible.
