(I have always stayed in single player mode, but I have read other people talking about how "co op" sort of still works but that it is no being supported and that you can avoid its problems by using a dedicated server setup instead.)
No, no, no, NO.
P2P Coop is deprecated and unsupported for MANY months now since the Unity game engine was found to not properly support the game compexity.
Development has ceased, and you will face insurmountable issues playing in this manner until such time the code is removed.
For example:
- only the host player will get starting escape pod rations
- if one player want to leave the planet, ALL must leave
- you can't all leave in the same CV.
PLEASE, if you are going to post advice, know your subject and dont post advice that's contradicted by hundreds of recent postings.
This is very, very bad advice.
Use the dedicated server or you will encounter issues that will not be fixed, ever.
The devs seem to plan on having public servers so id really just rec to your friend to play together on the public test server for now. DS worlds get around the unity scene problem probably by have all the different scenes loaded at once and then simply transferring players from one to an other. The transistion from one scene to the next in unity is almost seemless if done right, cept for the minor freeze you get when it happens you wouldn't notice it.
I like having food grow while offline. I wouldn't mind my defenses being tested while offline either.
1) double click on emperiondedicated.exe
2) both you and friend usre multiplayer connect to the IP of the computer running emperion, provided both of you are in the same home whole playing.
I do the same thing on my pc. I run into minor issues after playing about 3 - 4 hours straight on the weekends...simple relog and it's fine. And my pc is midline compared to what's available now.
Same, i was hoping it would allow it to process more efficiently, on single player, I lag everytime i change scene.
