How to start a multiplayer game?

Do I need to download a dedicated server or how does it work for this game?
I have tried joining a friend (ports forwarded), but it doesn't work

Any help would be appreciated.

The mp is peer to peer right now. Who ever is hosting needs to port forward 30000 then give your ip to your friends so they can join. If you are hosting just start a normal game then they can join your game if you have the ports forwarded.

To start Multiplayer:
1.: the Host starts a normal Game.
You must have Port forewarded Port 30000
2.: Tell your playartner your IP
3.: The Partner enters this IP in his Multiplayer menu and joins.

Search for software called port checker you can use the free version thats how I check my ports for the games I play with friends. The name of the software is portfoward network utilites. You can use the trial version to check the number port you opened . I use it alot works good.

Thanks for the replies. I had initially tried to use another port and failed. Seem like only the standard port 30000 works right now.

Not working. I have a Linksys router, filtration is always on. Forwarded TCP 30000, both me and my friend without a router can't connect to each other.

log writes on this like:
sendto failed with code -1 for char 9 and length 1464.
sendto failed with code -1 for char 9 and length 1464.

The connection request to **.**.**.**:30000 failed. Are you sure the server can be connected to?

Quick question did you start a normal single player game or did you try to start a multiplayer game. The host starts a normal game as if playing solo, then whoever is going to join clicks mp game and puts in ip.

I bought this game with a friend, thinking that the cooperative would be enabled properly, but I see it is not so ... and I have to follow instructions that are out of my control to make a game with a friend, I like the game but dont like that in the store when put cooperative for the normal user has no cooperative

First disappointment, I hope as soon as possible implement a cooperative for dummies

When you load a save, the game is already started. Just have someone connect to your IP but make sure that port that is on the "Connect" screen is correctly forwarded through your router.

See above -- when you start a new game or resume a save, Co-Op is already up and running, however you have to make sure your router's port is correctly forwarded (if that friend is not on your lan)
